Oragadam is a town and industrial area located on the outskirts of Chennai, India. It is situated on a high plateau at a distance of 45 km away from Chennai on Tambaram-Kancheepuram Road. Oragadam, centrally located between Grand Southern Trunk and NH4, has been touted as Chennai's largest and most developed industrial belt.The town is known for its various industries and workshops pertaining to the automobile sector.

Vascon launches maiden IT SEZ in Ahmedabad Construction major Vascon Engineers Ltd is setting up a 1.5 million sq .ft. IT/ITES SEZ at Sanathal village, off S. G.Road. The project, named Vtech ITZ, comprises 26 acres of notified IT/ITES SEZ and will include sufficient hospitality and shopping facilities to cater to the immediate needs of the occupants. It is expected to be completed in three years with the first phase slated to be ready by May 2009.
Announcing the launch, Mr R Vasudevan, Managing Director of Vascon, revealed this was the company's first venture in western India outside Maharashtra.

The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) is spread over 347 acres in Oragadam and houses a number of industrial units. With Over 22 Fortune 500 companies (of which six are global car manufacturers), the Sriperumbudur-Oragadam belt has seen tremendous industrial growth, The area is well-connected via road and rail and according to industrial experts, the presence of automobile giants like Renault-Nissan and Ford has triggered growth in and around Oragadam.

Real estate development in the city has been witness to several transformations over the past four to five years. The resultant flood of working Professionals and their family, complete with residential and shopping demands has increased the potential of urban development in the area.

The SEZ is being developed by Vascon in association with Agarwal Estate Organisers of Gujarat and Pristine Properties of Pune. Vascon will be responsible for the design and development of the entire project. Each phase will offer a ready-to-use package, complete with ample parking for cars and buses. "The development will be so planned that the work on the next phase will progress smoothly without affecting the efficiency and comfort of the users of the ready phase," Mr C V Shah, President, Vascon said.
Vascon has been picked to be among India's Top 10 Builders in a survey conducted by Construction World and published in its June 2007 issue in India and the Gulf.
